Submitting yourselves to God is easier said than done but this is what we must do to be receive all God has for us.

We ask God for things we desire but we are battling not only with ourselves but with others and we put them on a hIMG_1339igher post and think God will grant our desires – NO. You must SUBMIT yourselves totally.

“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

James 4:6 NIV

When we ask God and we don’t receive it’s because we have the wrong motives and God knows that so we need to ask in a deeper passionate of submission. One way is resisting the devil, getting closer to God, washing your hands of the past, and purifying your heart. It must be a full submission of your heart, body, and soul.

Planning for Tomorrow, WHY? Saying what you are going to do, where you are going, how much money you are going to make. Boasting about tomorrow and you don’t even know what will happen in the next minute. I have learned on a personal note don’t PLAN. God laughs at your plans, “For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)

Instead just say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” (James 4:15, NIV) –enjoy and live your life for we don’t know the seconds, minutes, or hour our breath shall be taken. So submit.

Book of James

“ …faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.”

James 2:17 (NLT Parallel Study Bible) Screen Shot 2017-07-09 at 8.14.36 PM

So it takes more than FAITH to be committed to change in your life. Let me tell you, I know that for sure, my journey was based on FAITH but others of myself had to change to make me the persona I am today.

The book of James provides that need to change I choice three that stands out:

  • Stop looking down on others
  • Anyone can falter, don’t judge
  • Everyone is on a different journey- don’t criticize choices

We must learn to be committed to our FAITH and show ourselves in accordance with our FAITH and not be a sometimer. We need to look at ourselves in the mirror not the outer and see if we are living our lives to what we proclaim.

Yes we are all a work in progress but the question would be when does the work truly begin and what steps must we begin to follow our journey.

I will be looking at the five chapters of James in upcoming biblejournaling and the concepts they teach for us to follow our FAITH.

Book of Ruth

Ruth is said to be derived from the a Hebrew word meaning “friend”

The author of the book Ruth is the prophet Samuel, not for sure but is reported in other text.

The story begins with Ruth, her and her sister-in-law Orpah, and mother-in-law Naomi moving back to Bethlehem. All were widows and childless and Ruth informed both to return to their families, Orpah did return and left the Naomi and Ruth. But when Naomi asked Ruth again she refused to leave and wanted to stay with Naomi who she saw as a faithful woman and Ruth wanted to be the same type of woman. Ruth looked at Naomi and said– “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!” (Ruth 1:16-17 NLT)

So Ruth went with Naomi to Bethlehem in time for the spring harvest. Ruth set out to work in the fields to support herself and Naomi. Ruth worked in the field of Boaz, who was  related to Naomi late husband.img_2456

Boaz had heard about Ruth and how devoted to Naomi she was. Ruth worked hard in the fields and Boaz was impressed again with her determination. Later in the book their relationship developed and with Naomi helps Ruth went to Boaz (her redeemer) and later upon agreement they were married. From this marriage a son was born mane Obed father of Jesse and grandfather of David, King of Israel.

The story of Ruth was about a woman full of faith and honor. She devoted herself to Naomi and showed her humbleness in the presence of God. She had to work hard in a land where she was a foreigner and had no family; because of this determination and loyalty came gratification with becoming a wife and later a mother.

So for today’s society the book of Ruth is about God recognizes people of good character. I personally don’t believe things just happen by chance. God saw Ruth as faithful individual who put others before herself and because of her act God was working to bring things to happen in her life without her knowing. All good things will happen if we stay the course and remain patient and commit and keep following God’s path for your life.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 NLT

Knit me Together

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139:13 NIV

God knows me and God knew me at the moment I was formed together. When the DNA was merged and life begins in my mother’s womb. At the moment I was created I belong to God. The moment is about God who created my innermost being making me unique and special despite being created like all others there is a distinct that stands out from others- my innermost being.

God is wonderful his work is wonderful. Look around this world and see his creations, as he is the Creator of all things. The awesome creation is a power that cannot be explained.

How do we Pray ?

This is how Jesus informed the disciples How do we Pray?

This was the question asked by Jesus’ disciples and Jesus replied with the prayer that is or should be taught to our children today. It only takes a few seconds to say.  My mama taught me this prayer as a child and still today I say it every night and every morning. Lets now look at its meaning.

The scripture before the prayer states – “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Matthew 6:8 NIV

IMG_1744For me this verse is Jesus telling the disciples don’t ask for personal or gratifying for selfish acts from our Father. He knows what we need and the desire of our heart. So he gave his disciples a prayer and here is my opinion of its meaning.

Our Father, Who art in heaven

God is our father and we are all his children; he is the all powerful and there are no other like him especially on earth.

Hallowed by Thy name

Is letting God know he is the Holy; mainly we are asking that his name be recognized. God is the most powerful and loved by all that know him.

Thy Kingdom Come

We want God’s kingdom be in our life everyday of our life and after life on earth we all will be admitted into the kingdom of Heaven.

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven

We pray that all of us do the will of God on earth joyfully and in faith like the angels do in Heaven. All shall commit to the holy will of God and become one with him and always do his will not ours.

Give us this day our daily bread

We ask God to give us all that is needy daily not just
food but for our soul and we know all our needs come from him.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us

We are asking God to forgive us for our sins but most importantly we must first forgive those who have sinned against us. This can be difficult because as humans we can hold a grudge against someone because of what they have done to us. But if we want forgiveness of our sin we must forgive others. We are able to do this through the strength of prayer.

And lead us not into temptation

As humans we are tempted everyday, we ask God to lead us away from temptation of all dangers and to resist them in our everyday life.

But deliver us from evil

Again we are asking God to lead us down the right path and keep us from evil especially the temptation of the devil; especially eternal damnation.

For thy is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever

This part of the prayer is not as given in some modern day versions but is found in the King James Version.

For me its meaning is that the Kingdom of God is the ultimate authority over all. The power comes from God; glory is our way of having humility and gives God the credit. Forever is that God is the same today as yesterday he is the “I am”

Mainly it means – so be it and we agree to it.

The Lord’s Prayer is a covenant or some may see  an agreement/contract we are making with our God.

I hope you know how to pray.

Be Blessed

Positive Mine into a Positive Journey

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13 NIV

Thinking POSITIVE and being POSITIVE are easier to say than do. I know I felt POSITIVE and upbeat in the beginning of my journey but once the STORM came – POSITIVE was the last thing I was thinking about.

Every journey we take in life is going to have some rough patchScreen Shot 2016-07-16 at 6.59.27 PMes but its not going to last forever, so we have to remember to be POSITIVE despite what is going on around us.

Choosing to be POSITIVE even when it looks like life is against you is the determination of how you’re going to live your life throughout your journey.

So yes its tough to be POSITIVE all the time but you can’t live a POSITIVE life with a negative mind. Be strong, never give up, and believe in yourself a little more.

“Be miserable or motivate yourself whatever has to be done it’s always your choice.” Wayne Dyer

We are on the 7th Piece of the Puzzle: COURAGE is the ability to do something that frightens or strength in the face of pain or grief. Other synonyms are bravery and valor. I would say these words definitely described me back in 2012, when I decided to drive 8 ½ hours from my comfort zone world of East Texas to Atlanta, Georgia.

I didn’t know anyone and had no clue what to expect. I went out on Faith and felt God would not fail me- I had full COURAGE. I was looking ahead and not knowing there would be storms, fears, and trails ahead. I lost  COURAGE and almost turned around in the midst of the situation but I took hold of myself got the COURAGE back to let go and let God and place my  Faith again in my Lord. It takes COURAGE everyday to deal with many life situations.

Think about Joseph, Daniel, King David even Paul, Peter and Jesus, the Bible gives us examples of GODLY COURAGE. Daniel was taken out of his homeland and brought into a new land; he could have easily lost COURAGE but in the midst of his own storm he challenged and resolved to place his FAITH back in the Bible. You could say the same for Joseph. It would have been all too easy for him to succumb to temptation, but he didn’t. Instead, he resisted and suffered.

Everyday we face challenge and temptation that makes you want to give up but at that moment you must get a hold of yourself – hold firm- and know this storm will not last.

“Wait on the Lord be of good COURAGE, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say on the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14-KJV)
